What is a Kundalini crisis?

A Kundalini crisis, also known as Kundalini syndrome or spiritual emergency, refers to a range of intense physical, emotional, psychological, and spiritual symptoms. These occur when the dormant Kundalini energy—conceptualized in Hindu tradition as a coiled serpent at the base of the spine—is suddenly and forcefully awakened. This awakening can be triggered by deliberate spiritual practices, such as tantra, the use of plant medicine, mental overload with short circuit or physical trauma, pranayama, receiving darshans or it may happen spontaneously.

Symptoms of a Kundalini awakening

Physical Symptoms

  • Comfortable:
    • Sense of pleasurable energy rising from the abdomen
    • Deep sense of physical bliss, e.g., orgasmic feelings all over one’s body
    • Better health and resistance to illness
    • Increased beauty, radiance, and physical rejuvenation (e.g., wrinkles disappear)

Kundalini crisis

Basically an overload of released energy, giving you lack of sleep and an overload of triggers and stress, as stress is what kundalini cleanses, but is not done overnight. This can take a year if not longer and is often referred to as the dark night of the soul, where one realised he will not survive and the process of life taking over becomes a battle. If this is the case, most of the uncomfortable symptoms will show up in the list above.

It is easy to read and listen to masters say, just accept the process and surrender. It is like saying, hold your breath for 5 minutes and surrender the ego that does not want to die - good luck !

Similar with a kundalini crisis. It takes time to kill the ego. You cannot surrender everything, especially when the word surrender has no more meaning.

So what can you do?

For me the best steps were to stop taking all kinds of freaking supplements. They were overloading the kundalini. Also work on getting good sleep by darkening and cooling the bedroom and playing sports and doing normal things again like being with friends and family, instead of meditating the whole day that would overload the system. These are the best advice for a kundalini crisis. Talking about your fears and stress with friends or in a regression therapy also works.

Going to satsangs, doing tantra or self-inquiry worked short term but next day the overload is back. This does not calm the system. Yet if you have tasted the power of tantra, you will not return to ordinary sex, so that will not work. Self-inquiry if done long enough becomes automatic, so you cannot stop that either, as truth wants to be found. So stop going to satsangs and energy healing sessions? Well you can go as this will speed up the crisis time. So again, it is not what you should not do anymore only, but also what you should add. Good healthy food, no more supplements, stop plant medicine (except iboga, this plants is the only one that does work and cleanses and speed things up) and work on improving your sleep with sports, stop drinking coffee and alcohol and watch out with meat late at night as that gives too much energy and you cannot sleep. Also do not overeat. Stop at 80% and stop eating sugar, no good in a kundalini crisis. Sugar is like oil on fire with kundalini. If there is a lot of stress and fear during the crisis also avoid gluten, as this creates food allergies in combination with stress.



Lets talk about food and the kundalini

Your pain and other bodily kundalini troubles are not just due to injuries and insults, but also diet and the gradual depletion of energy (enzymes) and resources (minerals, hormones, neurotransmitters) in dealing with life conditions. For an experiment, try cutting all grains and sugar from your diet, and limit sweet fruits or vegetables (corn, carrots, beets) to about half a cup per day. If you do this while significantly increasing your raw greens intake, your pain levels may drop within days. Chlorophyll, magnesium, MSM, vitamin D, and iodine all contribute to reducing body pain. Soaking in lithium-rich hot mineral water reduces pain, as does lying on the grass, ground, or sand and hugging trees. Walking barefoot outdoors in different landscapes helps absorb electrons. Sunlight, swimming in natural water sources, and being around falling water (hydrogen-ion-rich air) also reduce pain. Ambient background music uplifts energy.

Sugar and cooked carbohydrates make the nerves more sensitive to pain and break down protein structures in the body. These also encourage candida, which produces toxins that increase pain. Reducing carbohydrates can help alleviate pain and depression. Grains should be consumed only occasionally, like once or twice a month. Consider easily digestible dairy such as yogurt and feta to preserve the body's enzyme supply.

Calcium is a vital mineral for pain and damage control in the body, especially during the catabolic breakdown of tissues during transformation. Save your eggshells, grind them, and add the powder to potting soil for growing sprouts. Foods rich in silicon, which is transmuted into calcium in the body, include nettle, oat straw, horsetail, eyebright, cornsilk, comfrey, lemongrass, and ginger.

I found olive leaf to be an excellent healer of pain due to inflammation of the nerves as energy rises in our inflammatory western bodies. Pine extract and grape seed also help reduce inflammation, but the key is building high-integrity nerve sheaths. Olive leaf supports cell membranes and myelin sheath development, protecting against inflammation and reducing the raw-nerve exposure feeling. Grow olive trees, dry the leaves, grind them, sift them, and put them into capsules. Ginkgo, gotu kola, ginseng, echinacea, and goldenseal are also beneficial.

Milk thistle aids liver detoxification, which helps tissues restore integrity. A healthy liver equals a pain-free body. Boosting zinc and selenium enhances antioxidant protection, reducing pain. Licorice supports the adrenal glands, while ginkgo improves circulation and oxygen supply, both of which reduce pain. White willow bark, the original source of aspirin, has a longer half-life in the body than aspirin.

Papaya and banana smoothies can reduce pain, likely due to beta-carotene and enzymatic energy. The papain enzyme in papaya aids protein digestion and is a powerful mucus solvent that cleanses intestinal walls and tissues. Papain also converts proteins into arginine, which increases growth hormone release.

Cramping and painful shins are signs of kundalini energy rising in a depleted, acidic body. Adding magnesium citrate and MSM to your drinking water and incorporating cabbage or kale into your juicing routine may help. Topical magnesium oil can quickly stop cramping. Sun your legs daily, if possible, and spray them with chamomile tea infusion. Walking barefoot on the ground also helps.

Rub pure rosemary oil on your neck, shoulders, spine, feet, shins, and calves. Grow rosemary for tea or food use; it is a powerful antioxidant and nerve protector.

Green foods reduce pain by increasing oxygen and detoxifying the body. Raw cabbage supports liver health and reduces pain effectively. Miso soup is also beneficial. All green vegetables eaten raw can help reduce pain, so think salads and green smoothies.

Remineralization and alkalinization reduce pain. Fasting is the quickest way to eliminate pain. Clay, when used internally or as a mask or bath, buffers and alkalinizes acids and toxins, reducing pain. Adding liquid seaweed or wheatgrass juice to clay packs enhances their effects. Baths with ginger root, peppermint, chamomile, or basil tea, or a tablespoon of castor oil, can detoxify the body and reduce pain. Neem oil applied to feet and covered with socks provides systemic detoxification. Mineral salts from thermal areas added to baths also reduce pain and increase energy.

Magnesium, silicon, potassium, omega-3s, vitamin C, and iodine are all crucial for reducing pain and supporting overall health. Adding these through natural sources, supplements, or lifestyle changes can significantly improve well-being.

Seaweed contains essential elements and trace minerals important for our endocrine system and the regulation of the body’s metabolism. Sea vegetables help cleanse the intestinal tract and lymph system, stabilize blood sugar levels, purify and alkalize the blood, and inhibit cancer cell growth. They also promote healthy thyroid function, reduce cardiovascular problems, and have anti-inflammatory properties. Kelp, in particular, contains almost every mineral and trace mineral necessary for human existence, as well as amino acids and vitamins. The primary constituents of kelp include algin, carrageenan, iodine, potassium, bromine, mucopolysaccharides, mannitol, alginic acid, kainic acid, laminine, histamine, zeaxanthin, protein, and vitamins B-2 and C. Brown kelp seaweed, which constitutes over 10% of the Japanese diet, is linked to a lower incidence of estrogen-dependent cancers. Consuming one tablet with meals or one tablespoon of kelp daily is recommended. You can also use dulse as a sprinkle, nori for roll-ups, or seaweed in soups and salads.

Other Herbs for Pain: Aloe extract, kava kava, sheep's sorrel, olive leaf, valerian root, wild yam, garlic, lemon balm, catnip, chaparral, chamomile, yucca root, borage, California poppy, mullein, marshmallow, slippery elm, white oak bark, licorice, peppermint, and cardamom. Dong quai and angelica have warming, blood, and chi-moving properties. Sassafras, ginger, and cinnamon sticks can also be beneficial for arthritis-type pain, providing a warming and grounding sensation. Feverfew may counter excessive opiate production, dizziness, and nerve pressure caused by an overactive nervous system.

Chamomile Sun Spray: Grind 1/3 cup of chamomile in a coffee grinder and place it in a coffee flask. Add 1 cup of water, heat on a coffeemaker hotplate for an hour (or on low heat on the stove with a lid). Strain through a sieve and coffee filter. Transfer the thick liquid to a spray bottle. Spray the mixture all over your body, especially on the face, lymph areas, and the bottoms of your feet, and then lie in the sun. This spray boosts immunity, increases energy, and reduces pain.

Beta Glucan Topical Cream: Beta glucan is a polysaccharide found in oats, barley, mushrooms, and yeast. It stimulates macrophage (Langerhans) cells in the skin, improving the immune system. You can buy topical creams containing beta glucan or create your own fresh body pack using yogurt, shea butter, or avocado.

Chamomile Infusion Spray: Grind chamomile flowers in a coffee grinder. Heat 1 cup of water with the chamomile on low heat for an hour (without boiling). Strain the mixture through a sieve and coffee filter. Store the thick liquid in a spray bottle. This spray is especially effective for pain relief when applied while sunbathing. It also conditions hair and improves skin repair when used on the face or rough areas of skin.

Greens for Sovereignty: To support full physical and emotional liberation, a diet rich in raw green smoothies and juices is essential. These provide the body with the refined energy needed to detoxify and ascend. Use well-ripened fruit and leafy greens such as spinach, kale, chard, nettle, watercress, parsley, and turnip tops. Alternate greens to avoid overloading on specific alkaloids. Non-starchy vegetables like tomatoes, cucumbers, avocados, celery, and bell peppers can also be added. Avoid oils or proteins in smoothies to maintain quick digestion, as greens provide sufficient protein on their own.

Regular vegetables containing starch, such as broccoli, cabbage, beets, carrots, and zucchini, are better juiced than blended. Living on green smoothies and vegetable juices for a period can provide the energy for detoxification and emotional liberation. Green smoothies balance potassium and sodium levels, essential for cellular health. Potassium acts as an enzyme activator, while sodium acts as an enzyme inhibitor.
